How can I get Involved
You are vital to the success of this plan. There are a lot of ways to get involved in this project.
- Take the survey as it comes out on our website
- Use the photography and mapping crowdsourcing apps ("Survey" and "Show us your Nevada").
- There will be in person meetings where we will meet with the citizens of the city- show up and let us hear what you are thinking.
- Attend open houses to provide feedback.
- When this plan goes to the Planning Commission and City Council, come to those meetings too to voice your support for these ideas.
- Lastly, you can just reach out to us over the phone or email (our contact information is on the Contact Us! page).
How is the Planning going to be implemented?
The comprehensive plan will first be adopted by the City Council after public hearings in front of the Planning Commission and City Council. The Comprehensive Plan will then be implemented through an action agenda (which may include strategic plans or a housing study), as well as annual plan review. A relevant, up to date plan is critical to on-going planning success. To maintain both public and private sector confidence, evaluate the effectiveness of planning activities, and, most importantly, make mid-plan corrections on the use of county resources, the plan must be current. After adoption of the comprehensive plan, opportunities should be provided to identify any changes in conditions that would impact elements or policies of the plan. At the beginning of each year a report should be prepared by the Planning Commission, which provides information and recommendations on whether the plan is current in respect to population and economic changes, and the recommended goals, objectives, and/or policies are still valid for the county and its long-term growth.
